The dual MBA/MHA student helped create and improve procedures at Casa Jackson Hospital for Malnourished Children. The hospital has helped more than 2,000 children recover from malnutrition and starvation. Peru TWU nursing students shared clinical rotations and presentations on current nursing practice with Peruvian nurses and students. Dr. Tuong-Vi Ho said the trip expanded the world view and nursing philosophy of her students while they did the same for students at Universidad Maria Auxiliadora, nurses at Hospital Nacional Sergio E. Bernales and Vidawasi Children’s hospital, and citizens at a health fair in San Juan de Lurigancho. The war in Ukraine has displaced millions of refugees into Poland — mostly women and children. The children still need to learn and still need teachers. In a partnership with a Fulbright Scholar from Poland, Dr. Mandy Stewart and her Literacy & Learning students are providing biliteracy online professional development and innovative research to teachers of refugees. Brazil A team trip to Brazil proved to be a unique opportunity to experience a new culture and serve the community for the Pioneer volleyball team. The team visited São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where they scrimmaged against local teams and immersed themselves in the culture of the home country for two of their teammates.
