Do Advocate for Diversity As a proud Vietnamese-American, diversity and inclusion is a top priority for fashion merchandising alum Tiana James. When the global brand Victoria’s Secret needed to redefine its PINK apparel line, giving it greater appeal to people of color, the company tapped James to manage public relations and partnerships. Her role in PINK’s authentic and diverse rebrand earned James a spot in Ad Age’s 40 under 40 list. Dancing through Barriers Meet Dr. Iquail Shaheed. Shaheed shattered barriers when he became the first Black male to earn a PhD in dance at Texas Woman’s. From founder and director of his own dance company to performing on Broadway, Shaheed had one dream left to follow: earning his PhD. Among the Elite Biochemistry major Laura Ruemmele surpassed 170 applicants from across the country, including students from Ivy League universities. All were vying for a position in the Air Force Research Lab. Ruemmele earned her place in the prestigious lab through her breadth of hands-on knowledge from TWU lab experiences. 4 | Boldly Go
